It's Time for a New Voice for the 4th District!

Our campaign is off to a great start. I've had a great time meeting people in the District and listening to their concerns on the issues facing Michigan, and letting them know why I'm running in this race. One thing I've noticed is that people across our District share many of the same concerns - how to bring good jobs back to our part of Michigan, how to make health care more affordable for everyone, and how to keep families facing the crisis of a foreclosure from losing their homes.

It's not easy to take on a well-funded long-time incumbent. But the fact is, this District needs a change, and Dave Camp's announcement that he's running for a 10th term in office confirmed why change is so important right now. After 9 terms in Congress, Dave Camp says the best reason to vote for him in November is he might become Ranking Member of the House Committee on Ways and Means because he's so senior in the Republican Party, and then he can make sure Michigan's concerns are heard on that Committee.

The fact is, Dave Camp should have been making the 4th District's views heard during the last 18 years he's served as our Congressman - and he should have been working every day he's been in Congress to make life better for people in our District. Michigan has one of the highest rates of foreclosure in the country - but Dave Camp votes consistently against mortgage relief for homeowners. Michigan has one of the highest rates of unemployment in the country and families going without health care - but Dave Camp votes consistently against expanding health care benefits for children. Michigan has lost nearly 200,000 manufacturing jobs since 2000 - but Dave Camp votes consistently for every trade agreement, regardless of whether the terms are good or bad for Michigan.

We know we can expect more of the same from Dave Camp if we send him back for a 10th term. That's why it's time for a change in the 4th District. I am running for Congress because I know how important it is to have a good job, a home, and healthcare. If you send me to Congress, I'll never forget that. Vote Concannon for Congress.
